Course Description:
How comprehensive is your comprehensive oral exam? If you are still just “cleaning” teeth it probably is not. With 95% of patients having some level of periodontal disease and needing more than just a “cleaning” your comprehensive exam becomes critical in making an accurate dental hygiene diagnosis, creating an effective treatment plan, implementing treatments & interventions that lead to superior patient outcomes and developing measurable evaluation tools.
Once all the assessments are collected how are you recording the information? Would it satisfy the Quality Assurance Program (QAP) documentation requirements of your college?
The learning objectives are:
- Define both the dental & dental hygiene colleges’ perspective on the assessments required for a comprehensive oral exam!
- Describe assessments required for measuring periodontal disease.
- Analyze assessment indices in the process of care.
- Distinguish the appropriate mandated college documentation.
- Formulate documentation for treatment rendered, within the practice setting.
- Choose processes to capture treatment required for comprehensive patient care.
