Course Summary:
Exceptional periodontal care does not happen by chance.
It happens when the clinical team applies the same evidence-based framework to diagnosis, treatment planning, implementation, re-evaluation, and long-term periodontal management.
The Weekday Optimization Workshops Program develops the advanced clinical and administrative competencies required to implement comprehensive periodontal care consistently across the practice.
Participants learn to integrate periodontal diagnosis, oral-systemic health, comprehensive risk assessment, prognosis, patient-specific needs, and current evidence into individualized treatment planning, nonsurgical periodontal therapy, supportive periodontal care, clinical documentation, referral decisions, and long-term patient management.
By strengthening clinical implementation throughout the practice, WOW helps transform clinical decision-making into more consistent patient outcomes, stronger treatment acceptance, improved hygiene performance, greater patient-care capacity, and sustainable long-term growth.
Designed for forward-thinking practices committed to achieving the clinical and performance standards associated with the top-performing 25% of dental practices.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of the program, participants will be able to:
- Assess the healthy and diseased periodontium using integrated clinical, histologic, radiographic, oral-systemic, and patient-specific findings to support advanced treatment planning and implementation.
- Evaluate the current AAP/EFP periodontal and peri-implant disease classification framework and apply staging, grading, complexity, progression, risk, and prognosis to individualized care decisions.
- Formulate and validate a comprehensive dental hygiene diagnosis by integrating periodontal assessment findings, oral-systemic health information, radiographic interpretation, behavioural influences, risk factors, and evidence-based clinical reasoning.
- Decide on evidence-based treatment modifications and interventions that minimize the impact of predisposing and modifying factors on periodontal health, healing, disease progression, and treatment outcomes.
- Choose an evidence-based sequence for individualized periodontal treatment planning that integrates diagnosis, risk assessment, prognosis, patient values, oral-systemic considerations, clinical complexity, and appropriate referral.
- Select a patient-centred care plan based on the dental hygiene diagnosis, clinical findings, current evidence, patient preferences, treatment tolerance, prognosis, and anticipated therapeutic outcomes.
- Identify and sequence the phases of nonsurgical periodontal therapy, re-evaluation, referral, and supportive periodontal care according to disease severity, complexity, risk, prognosis, and treatment response.
- Evaluate clinical and therapeutic outcomes following nonsurgical periodontal therapy and determine whether care should be continued, modified, escalated, referred, or transitioned to individualized supportive periodontal care.
