Did you read the Nov OralHealth article on “Bridging the Gap”, by Dr. Mark Lin, where it has found that “it takes 10-20 years for the new research to be reflected in everyday clinical practice”?
The new 2017 global AAP Periodontal Classification is here to stay and in fact will continue to evolve and expand over the upcoming years. In order to fully understand this classification, one needs to know the old 1999 classification which I find most clinicians don’t and it has in fact, been around for 20 years. What are you waiting for? Don’t patients deserve the most current evidenced based treatment?
